모든 사람들은 과거에 대한, 자기가 알았던 사람들에 대한 기억들을 잊어버린 채 살아간다. 이러한 ‘잊혀짐’이 계속되다보면 주위에 대한 관심이 줄어들게 되고, 사람들은 차가운 사회에서 기계 돌아가듯 살아가게 된다. 이 러한 현실을 바탕으로 작품들을 만들었다. 1차 작품이 이러한 주제에 대한 바람만을 담았다면, 2차 작품은 주 제에 대한 문을 열었고, 3차 작품에 이르러선 이 문이 열렸을 때의 세상을 그렸다.

 

- Post Frame: 이 작품에서 우체통은 기억을 담는 저장고이다. 우리는 항상 우체통 주위를 아 무런 관심 없이 지나다닌다. 하지만 이 작품에서만큼은 카메라의 초점과 각각 사진의 배치가 우체통에 맞추어 져있다. 우체통의 형상이 똑바로 맞춰짐에 따라 일상의 모습, 프레임은 뒤틀리게 된다. 이렇게 평화롭던 프레임 이 우체통의 존재에 따라 뒤틀리게 되더라도 그에 상응하는 가치의 활기를 불어넣고 싶다는 열망을 담았다.

 

- Cities & The Dead 2: Letters in Postbox: 이 책의 외관은 우체통 자체이다. 그리고 책을 열면 보이는 OHP 필름들은 페이지를 넘길수록 편지가 들어가는 우체통의 입구임을 알아볼 수 있다. 이 입구를 열면 안에는 ‘기억’의 단편들이 놓여있다. 책의 글은 우리들의 ‘따뜻함’, 그리고 ‘기억’에 대한 관심을 촉 구하는 메시지를 담고 있다.

 

- 모닥불: 사람들의 모습이 담긴 사진들을 인쇄한 OHP필름들을 붙인 장작들이 모인 가운데에 우 체통들로 만들어진 불꽃이 피어난다. 이러한 작은 관심들, 사람들이 모이게 되면 그들 가운데에 ‘따뜻함’이 피 어난다는 주제를 표현했다.

 

 

 

Everybody forget about the memory of their past and memory about the people they used to know. They do it all the time, and just keep living on. However as this ‘forgetting cycle’ keeps going on, people starts to lose their concerns about their surroundings and begin to live ‘heartless’ life like machines. I wanted to light up this reality. The first piece shows ‘desire’ about this theme to be come true. The Second piece opens the ‘door’ to realize this theme. And Finally, the third piece shows the world ‘after’ the door has opened.

 

- Post Frame: In this piece, Postbox is a storage that keeps memories in it. We always just pass by without any notice or interest about the presence about the Postbox. However in this piece, every camera focus and arrangement of pictures are based on Post- box. As the outlook of the Postbox becomes straight, the outlook – frame – of our daily life becomes distorted. I wanted to express my desire to blow a warm spirit to our common life, even though it might be distorted.

 

- Cities & The Dead 2: Letters in Postbox: The outlook of this book is Postbox itself. And as we turn pages, OHP films in each page show their real shape; the entrance of postbox that we put letters in. If we flip the film, there are pieces of memories. The text shows the message of demanding concerns and recognitions about ‘warmth’ and ‘memories’.

 

- Campfire: Pictures of people are printed on OHP films, and I turned them into fire- wood. And in the middle of their gatherings, flame made up of Postboxes burns up. I wanted to express that ‘warmth’ appears in the middle of gathering of people and their small con- cerns.
