우리는 살면서 죽음을 딱 한 번 마지막 순간에서밖에 접하지 못합니다. 할머니께서 돌아가 신 후, 실제로 죽은 사람을 보았을 때 충격이었습니다. 그렇게 우리들은 바쁜 일상 생활 속 에서 죽음이라는 존재를 잘 잊고 산다고 생각합니다. 하지만 언젠가는, 우리가 아는 사람들 중, 살아있는 사람의 수보다 죽은 사람의 수가 많아지는 날이 올겁니다. 관의 뚜껑이 닫히는 모습을 보면서 죽음에 대한 많은 생각을 하게 되었습니다.

 

이 전시는 관을 이용한 전시입니다. 9개의 관에는 각각 서로 다른 죽음이 있습니 다. 관람자는 직접 관에 들어가 한 편의 죽는 꿈을 꾸는 것입니다. 관 안에서는 아무 소리 도 들리지 않을 수도 있으며, 혹은 어떠한 특정한 음성을 들을 수도 있습니다.

 

어떠한 생명도 언젠가는 죽음에 이르는 것이 자연의 질서입니다. 그런 죽음을 인 간은 제각기 해석하며 살아갑니다. 관람자들이 이 작품을 통해 죽음을 생각해보는 시간이 되었으면 좋겠습니다. 죽음 앞에 서 있는 자신의 모습을 상상하며, 그저 자연스럽게, 겸허 하게 죽음을 사랑하게 되는 사람이 되길 바라면서.......

 

 

 

We didn’t face dead until the last moment. When Grandmother died, I was shocked because I saw the real Dead. Death is forgotten in our Life because of busy daily living. However, I know that some- day my relatives who are Dead will become more than the living ones. I think about Dead so many things when I saw the Coffin that contained the Dead.

 

This Artwork uses coffins. Each coffin contains different kinds of Death. Viewers go inside one of the coffins, and experience the one of the dreams about Death. There can be no sound, or some kind of specific sound.

 

No Life can run away from Death. It’s a nature’s rule. Every- body interprets Death differently. We want to make a time to think of Death for viewers. Imagine each person is standing in front of Death, Just naturally, and humbly, the person will love Death.
